The executives at the Audubon Institute have plans to "renovate" the historic Audubon Golf Course and have raised $5,000,000 for that purpose. But when did they consult with the user of the course? There must be virtually no one who wants the essentially 3-par layout that they propose. What the A.I. seeks is a resolving cash door - shorter rounds and higher fees.
The issues of safety, clubhouse, etc., are raised merely to put a positive spin on their design.
Considering the dilapidated state of our streets and schools, it seems perverse to spend so much money - a fair part of it provided by the city - on Audubon Golf Course when the players would simply prefer to have the existing course properly maintained.
Sincerely,
Mike Easley New Orleans
