It has
come to our notice that the Audubon Institute has
begun to take the position that the website
www.saveaudubonpark.org is full of factual errors
and deliberate misinformation.
While the Audubon Institute has never brought
to our notice any particular instance of factual
error on our part, we do acknowledge that some of
the statements made on our website may have been
superseded by events.
For instance, while we do not know if the
Institute considers the issue of the closure of
Hurst Walk to be a 'factual error' we argue that
even if they now decide to keep the public path
open - which we do not know for sure - our
highlighting of their intention to close the path
was factually correct at the time that it came to
our notice, and was not contradicted by the
Institute at the time of the Times-Picayune
article of July 25th, nor at the public meeting on
September 4th when it was a topic that produced a
lot of heated discussion.
As the exact details of every aspect of the
Institute's plans have never been open to public
discussion, it has been left to us to reveal
specific details based on our research, on private
discussions with individuals at the Institute and
on information passed to us by concerned citizens.
SaveAudubonPark.org has never knowingly
published incorrect factual details on its website
or elsewhere, and would welcome any specific,
detailed and official information from the Audubon
Institute that would illuminate their plans in
such a way that we could correct any mistakes that
we have made.
Fundraising
Save Audubon Park is a Louisiana Nonprofit
Corporation. It is not organized for the financial
benefit of Audubon Park, but is a public interest
organization which sometimes opposes decisions made by
the Audubon Commission and/or the Audubon Institute.
