Some topical ditties

They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
And charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em

Don't it always seem to go
That you never know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise
To put up a parking lot.

Joni Mitchell

False Improvement Blues

I hear Ron Forman's coming
He's rollin round the bend
And he aint held a meeting
Since I dont know when
We're stuck with False Improvement
And trees keep coming down...

But that train keeps rolling
All over this whole town.

When I was just a baby
My momma told me "Son,
"Always be a good boy
"Dont ever play with Ron"
But he came right here as we know
Just to watch it die...

When I hear that chainsaw buzzin'
I hang my head and cry.

I bet there's rich folks dining
In a fancy clubhouse bar
They're probably drinking coffee
And smoking big cigars...
Well I know we had it coming
We know it wont be free

But those planners keep on planning,
And that's what tortures me

If they'd let me says Ron Forman
Treat this whole damn park as mine
I'd bet I'd move it on
A little further down the line
Another Big Improvement
That's what I want to say

And I'd let the highest bidder
Take the park away...

Apologies to Johnny Cash

Wonderful Park

I see trees of green...red roses too
I watch 'em bloom... for me and for you
And I think to myself... what a wonderful park.

I see skies of blue... clouds of white
Bright blessed days...warm sacred nights
And I think to myself...what a wonderful park.

The colors of a rainbow...so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces...of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands,sayin'.. how do you do
They're really sayin'...I love you.

I see dogs being walked... I see the squirrels run...
The birds and turtles...have so much fun.
And I think to myself...what a wonderful park.

(instrumental break)

I see parents pushing strollers...the joggers going by
...young college students...all asking why?

They see a golf course...which they've enjoyed
...now becoming worse...and they are annoyed. *SPOKEN*(What are they doing?!)

I hear us cry... I feel the earth below

*SPOKEN*(This is not just for tourists, it is our place, you know!)

And I think to myself ...what a wonderful park Yes I think to myself...what a wonderful park.

Louis Armstrong recorded this song in 1968, it was his last big hit, topping the charts in the UK.

Always on my Mind

Maybe I didnt meet you
Quite as often as I could have
Maybe I didnt treat you
Quite as good as I should have
If I made you feel second best
Folks, I'm sorry I was blind.

But you were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

Maybe I never told you
All those detailed plans of mine
I guess I never told you
Marc is happy, so I'm fine.

Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time

Money's always on my mind
Money's always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your patience hasnt died...
Give me, give me one more chance to keep you notified...keep you pacified

Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time

But you were always on my mind
You were always on my mind

after Willie Nelson.
