As you know, Audubon has consistantly argued that the new clubhouse will contain merely a "food service facility"
aimed primarily at the comfort of its golfers. We, on the other hand, have argued that the new building is
primarily a restaurant. The size of the dining and kitchen facilities and the nature of the kitchen
fixtures clearly indicate that the main purpose of the new building is to serve as another "Audubon Tea Room" -
a general purpose entertainment and banqueting facility that will be available for private night-time
rental. The "clubhouse" pretext is just that - a pretext to avoid current zoning rules which forbid operation
of a "restaurant" anywhere outside the zoo.
In order to honor the Institute's duplicity in this matter, we are launching a competition to name this
new clubhouse food service facility. If you would like to make a suggestion, you are
invited to do so at SaveAudubonPark@yahoo.com
