A cross-section of opinions

Here is a cross-section of comments:
"Stunning. Breathtaking. Beyond belief. First class. Maybe the best greens in the
city. Incredible vistas. A tough course that makes you use virtually every club
in your bag."
The beauty of the
new course was a distraction to their play: the yellow waterlilies in the
lagoons, the flowers in bloom, the sparkling white sand in the traps, the trees
all neatly trimmed and the deep green color of the fairways and greens. All
that, plus the ever-present view from all over the course of the beautiful
steeple of the Holy Name of Jesus Church on St. Charles Avenue. It was visual
sensory overload.
A couple of other comments, meant in a positive sense:
"I just didn't expect to see these big lagoons. That's what you see in Florida."
"It's hard to believe something like this is Uptown."
Park is pretty as a picture
As a jogger who has made the rounds of Audubon Park on an almost daily basis
for the past 20 years, I continue to be baffled by the relentless critics of the
golf course improvements.
The trees have never appeared healthier, the drainage has never been better
and the views are truly impressive. Constable's view of the plains around
Salisbury Cathedral has a new rival for pastoral beauty.
What a treat to be rewarded each morning with these refreshing vistas right
in the middle of our city!
I say all of this as an avowed non-golfer whose closest contact with the
sport has been dodging the hooks and slices that in the past have come zinging
across the jogging paths.
Hats off to the Audubon Institute and CEO Ron Forman if they have managed to
make these physical, horticultural and aesthetic improvements while still
managing to turn a profit.
Isn't that the kind of effective business management we should applaud in
this town?

From a happy Uptown golfer
I played at Audubon today. It was wonderful: The greens and the fairways were
the best for a new facility. I joined the new facility after playing today.
People who have problems with the golf facility and the club house should get
a real life
